Relive the rich heritage of the past in the highly anticipated Park Colonial development

The colonial era is one that is full of grandeur, elegance and style.

In the vicinity of Woodleigh Park, a collection of iconic colonial black-and-white houses remain largely hidden away from the public eye.

It is with this sublime past in mind that developer CEL Unique Development — a joint venture between CEL Development, Heeton Holdings and KSH Holdings — conceptualised the Park Colonial, an up and coming development that will take up the sprawling 210,404 sq ft land it acquired in Woodleigh Lane.

The site where the tranquil development will sit right next to Woodleigh MRT station and its design will be realised by award-winning architectural firm ADDP Architects.

“Park Colonial takes its inspiration from the quaint but stately estate of nearby Woodleigh Park, one of Singapore’s preserved colonial quarters established in the last century,” says Mr Markus Cheng, associate partner of ADDP.

Facilities and landscaping that spark nostalgia

Park Colonial’s landscaping feature lush, expansive lawns and beautiful tea gardens to bring back the ambience of a colonial lifestyle. It brings to mind languid afternoons, charming garden parties and opulent cars on a sweeping driveway.

As visitors enter or leave, they will pass through the Colonial Square. Like in the colonial past when visitors will be welcomed by a doorman in fine livery and guided through the main doors, the arrival porch offers a grand welcome to all who grace their presence at Park Colonial.

At the heart of the development, the clubhouse — named Colonial Club — has a uniquely elevated ceiling soaring 10 metres high. This lofty foyer not only frames the garden views but also allows daylight to enter, creating a wonderful play of shadows against the façade screens.

“Taking after the form and space of colonial villas and statehouses, we offer a contemporary interpretation of the functionality and timelessness of tropical colonial design, welcoming residents through a generously-overhanging portico and spacious patio that leads into the luxurious interior,” explains Mr Cheng, adding that the Colonial Club is Park Colonial’s crown jewel.

The rest of the scenery blossoms around Colonial Club, with a 50-metre long cantilevered lap pool looking like a plateau of water that overhangs bravely out onto the undulating and sweeping contours of the landscape below.

Meanwhile, the magnificent grounds with lush landscaping are full of character, offering sensuous journeys through a palette of lawn decks on one end and dense vegetation against the sound of flowing water on the other.

Beautiful light-filled pavilions surrounded by lush greenery allow residents to have get-togethers with friends and family.

As Mr Cheng eloquently puts it: “The experience of time and day passing through the evolving of the landscape, much as how we revel in the nostalgia of the colonial era, is celebrated here in the spirit of adventure.”
